The event took place on Sunday, April 1, at Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, CA. The Kickoff featured Joshua Nelson, “The Prince of Kosher Gospel” (also performing at the S.B. Jewish Festival April 29), who had the crowd of Sponsors, Vendors, Festival Friends, and Volunteers up on their feet and clapping along. We had a great turnout, a fun prize drawing and silent auction, some great food and a good time. On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, Santa Barbara Wedding DJ Scott Topper attended a Wedding seminar conducted by the Santa Barbara Event Professionals at Butler Event Center. Santa Barbara Wedding Planner Kerry Lee Dickey was the guest speaker from Santa Barbara Wine Country Weddings and Events as she presented “For Better Or For Worse,” A Look at Wedding and Events Marketing, Santa Barbara Style!
Here’s some of the wonderful Wedding Industry stats that I learned… The percentage of event clients that do planning and initial research for event services online is 90%! The average cost of most Weddings today is $26,800.00. The average number of Wedding guests in the U.S. is 165 attendees. The Wedding industry is now a $120 BILLION dollar industry. 77% of Marriages are first time marriages. When a Bride plans her Wedding, she involves and meets with forty different businesses. 80% of today’s Weddings are Destination Weddings (meaning the bride and groom themselves as well as the majority of the guests) are traveling from out of town to stay in the wedding location vicinity and also potentially host other activities for the guests (i.e. Farewell Brunch, tours, etc.). DJ Entertainment and Technology have not been affected by the 2008 Recession and are in fact, booming more than ever. The Wedding Party Grand Entrance song was “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas. The Bride and Groom entered the room in style to Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back.” The couple chose “You are the Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne as their First Dance Song. The Bridal Party danced to “(Everything I Do), I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams. The dance floor quickly heated up to the sound of Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.”
Scott Topper DJ Productions got the Party Started! Watch the You Tube Video Below: Once the song “Say Hey” by Michael Franti was played everyone knew it was time for Cindy and Tom to cut the cake. The Bride and Groom Thanked all of their guests for attending their reception and DJ Scott Topper played “All the Single Ladies” by Beyonce to let the single ladies know it was time for the Bouquet Toss back on the dance floor. Groom Tom was ready to take off Cindy’s garter to “The Stripper” by David Rose Orchestra and after Tom successfully removed the garter, the eligible bachelors were brought onto the floor for Tom’s Garter Toss to “Just a Gigolo” by David Lee Roth. The last dance set was quite memorable and concluded with “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root, “Save the Last Dance for Me” by Michael Buble and to keep the romance alive, “This Will Be (an Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole packing the dance floor with cheers and much rejoicing for the New Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Saxey as we said Goodnight. The Welcome Toast was given by the Mother-of-the-Bride Mrs. Jeanne Young followed by a blessing of the meal by Aunt Lois Gall and Beth Barry. Dinner service immediately followed with salad as the first course and bread service. Family Dances included the Mother Son Dance of “A Mother’s Song” by T Carter and a Father Daughter Dance of “Blue Danube” by Johann Strauss mixed well by DJ-MC Scott Topper into the Tina Turner version of “Proud Mary.” After more group dancing, the Entree and Dinner Service began. After a ceremonial dinner, several speeches were made. With glass in hand the first toast to the Bride and Groom was conducted by the Father of the Bride Mr. Mike Young, followed by the Maid of Honor Catie and the Best Man Lee. A fun yet emotional slideshow was then presented to all guests who were then ready to hit the dance floor for more dancing with
